Ventra Plastics invests $5.5 million in plant upgrade

As part of a $5.5 million upgrade project, Peterborough, Ont.-based injection molder and auto parts maker Ventra Plastics has added 25 new paint robots to its facility.
Just over $550,000 of the investment funds came from the Eastern Ontario Development Fund, according to a news release from Ontario’s Ministry of Economic Development and Growth.
The project was completed on July 30, 2016.
Ventra employs 523 people in Peterborough, and manufactures car components including bumpers and wheel covers for distribution throughout Canada, the U.S. and Mexico. The company supplies such top automotive companies such as General Motors, Toyota, Ford and Chrysler.
Ventra is a subsidiary of automotive supplier Flex-N-Gate Corp., which is headquartered in Urbana, Ill.
